There are two elements to a tour: the sites visited and the guide. As to the sites, visiting Hitler’s former HQ and a killing factory were certainly sobering and chilling. For anyone with an interest in WWII history and a wish to never forget and to solemnize the atrocities committed against the Jews and others, both sites delivered powerfully.
The guide, Marek, was likely the best I’ve ever had. He is a native of Warsaw, multi-lingual, educated, with wonderful English skills. While he offered insight regarding both stops on my tour, our most meaningful conversations covered non-tour subjects: the current state of the world, lessons on the history of Poland, explanation of the Russian Ukrainian war, as well as humorous stories regarding daily life in Poland. In a full day together in his car, we never ran out of things to talk about. Highly recommended.”
